22nd July 2021: Association Announcement – Match Fishing
At last night’s committee meeting, it was agreed that the Association matches would be stopped with immediate effect.
It was further agreed that if some members want to continue to fish matches as a social get-together, they can.
This decision has been taken against the backdrop of continuing low attendances of members (currently less than 1% of members attend matches). The committee will revisit this situation when appropriate, to see if it is feasible to bring match fishing back as an Association activity.
On a separate but related issue, during 2021 the committee has been reviewing it’s structure and how it fits the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead. We have concluded that to fully meet the obligations of running the Association, the following posts on the committee need to be recruited:
- Trustee
- Vice-Chairman
- Safeguarding Officer
- Bailiff for the River Ribble
- 2 x committee members
If any Association member would like more information on the roles, or would like to volunteer to undertake one of the positions, please drop me an email or give me a call.
This is your Association, but can only function with a committee which is fully populated with willing people who have the future of the Association at heart.
