General Information
The Back Drain is shallow water that runs adjacent to main River Crossens. There are large Tench and Bream and double figure Pike. It has steep banks along most of its way and anglers should take care when accessing.
Venue Specific rules:
No fishing from the bridges.
No naked flames are allowed on any of the drains, due to the restrictive access provided on the banks and the heightened risk of fire due to dry grass in the summer months.
The national close season applies, no fishing between 15th March to 15th June inclusive.
As with all SDAA waters, alcohol is not allowed.
No dogs.
No night fishing, dawn to dusk only.
Location
Upstream limit: The disused railway bridge (what3words exists.link.canny).
Downstream limit: The first left-hand bend past the timber platforms towards the pumping station (what3words pillow.poster.crash).
Parking
The angler’s car park is situated at the junction of Water Lane (A565) and Station Road. Please do not park along the track from the gate to the car park. There is a United Utilities facility alongside the Sluice, which requires 24/7 access.
